Hikes in Idaho

Well over half of the state of Idaho is federally owned. Within the state’s patchwork of national forests, monuments, and other public lands, there is an extensive amount of hiking trails and campgrounds. Borah Peak is the highest point in Idaho at 12,662 feet. Currently hikespeak.com has only traveled to Craters of the Moon National Monument, but just like Lewis and Clark we look forward to exploring more of the gem state!

Here are two hikes in Craters of the Moon National Monument, a very small sample of Idaho’s hiking offerings.

Lava Cave Craters of the MoonCaves Trail
This 1.6-mile hike travels above and below the surface, exploring lava tubes in the Great Rift Lava Flow.
